Sell without giving out your phone number
Four things caio.ltd does differently. Each of them is enforced by the software rather than promised in a policy.
Why a phone number on a page is a problem
When a classified advertisement carries the seller’s phone number on the page itself, everybody who can see the page can copy it — buyers, people who are not buyers, and software that reads pages in bulk. Once it has been copied there is no taking it back, and it does not stop being copied when the item sells.
caio.ltd is built the other way round. The number is not published and then protected; it is not published, and it is released once — to one person, at the moment you both agree there is a deal.
How it works
Your number is not on the listing
A caio.ltd listing carries a title, a description, photos, a price and a place. It does not carry a phone number, so there is nothing on the page for anyone — or any program reading pages in bulk — to copy. Buyers reach you through messages on the site.
It is released when you both confirm, and not before
When a conversation turns into an actual deal, each side marks it confirmed. The numbers are exchanged only once both have done so — not when the buyer asks, not when the seller offers, and not because a listing was viewed. One side confirming reveals nothing.
Either of you can withdraw it
A confirmation can be declined again afterwards, and the numbers stop being shared at once. Consent that cannot be taken back is not consent, and the withdrawal is a button on the same panel as the confirmation rather than a support request.
A photo's GPS coordinates never leave your browser
Phones write the exact spot a photo was taken into the file. Before anything is uploaded, your browser re-encodes each image from its pixels alone — which removes every EXIF, XMP and IPTC block by construction, including the coordinates. The rotation the camera recorded is applied first, so the photo still comes out the right way up.
And the photo does not pass through our server
Your browser asks for a signed upload address and sends the finished image straight to storage. The version with the location data in it was never sent anywhere — it stayed on your device and was replaced before the first byte left it.
What we do not do
- We do not put your phone number, your email address or your exact address on a listing.
- We do not set an advertising cookie or an analytics cookie, and there is no consent banner to dismiss — the analytics we use store no identifier and set nothing. The only cookies are the ones that sign you in and protect the forms you submit.
- We do not keep the original photo you selected. The file that reaches storage is one your browser wrote from the pixels, without the camera’s metadata.
- We do not charge a commission on a sale. Listing is free; the optional paid promotions are described on the FAQ.
Questions people actually ask
- Can I sell on caio.ltd without giving out my phone number?
- Yes. A listing never carries your phone number, and buyers contact you through messages on the site. Your number is released only if you and the buyer both mark a deal as confirmed, and either of you can withdraw that afterwards.
- When does the buyer actually get my number?
- Only when both of you have marked the deal confirmed. One side confirming does nothing on its own — the panel tells the person who confirmed first that it is waiting for the other party, and no number is shown until it is not waiting any more.
- I confirmed a deal and changed my mind. Can I stop sharing my number?
- Yes. Declining a confirmed deal withdraws the confirmation and the numbers stop being shared immediately. It is the same panel you confirmed on.
- Do my photos tell buyers where I live?
- No. Cameras record the exact coordinates a photo was taken at, and caio.ltd removes them before the photo is uploaded — your browser re-encodes the image from its pixels, which discards every metadata block including the location. The original never leaves your device.
- Does caio.ltd track me with cookies?
- There is no advertising cookie, no analytics cookie and no consent banner to dismiss — the analytics caio.ltd uses store no identifier and set nothing at all. The cookies that do exist are the sign-in ones: the token that keeps you signed in, and a CSRF token that protects the forms you submit.
